Seasons on the Ridge: What to Do Year-Round

On the Paradise Ridge, every season tells its own story — and you won’t have to wait for summer to find something to do. From snowy winter mornings and spring’s first wildflowers, to cool summer hikes and autumn’s vibrant foliage, there’s always an adventure to be had year-round. Our mountain air brings a fresh change of pace and a full calendar of local events, so whatever your rhythm, you’ll feel right at home in every season.


Winter

You do not have to travel far to experience a winter wonderland on The Ridge. More common in Magalia, winter snowfalls often occur on The Ridge providing a special treat for those that love the cold. The area also hosts events perfect for getting into the Holiday spirit. Winter is truly a magical time on The Ridge.


Spring

In the Spring, the daffodils arrive and fill the town with their beautiful bright color. This is an amazing time on The Ridge when the trees are a lush green color and is a great for some disc golf at Magalia Community Park. Get out and stretch your legs, listen to the birds chirping and keep your eye out for wildlife.

Summer

Enjoy the sunshine and cooler summer temperatures as you explore Paradise Lake and the other outdoor attractions in town. This is a great time to take advantage of all the outdoor activities on The Ridge including, hiking, kayaking, fishing and more. During the Summer months enjoy countless fun at Party in the Park which features a farmers market, kids zone, live music, arts and crafts and local organizations.

Fall

Enjoy the red, orange and yellow colors of fall foliage on the Ridge. A great place to see this is at the Butte Creek Watershed Lookout along the Skyway, where you will find a breathtaking view of the watershed which looks like a mini grand canyon, dressed in fall colors. 


Another great place to check out fall foliage is a stroll through Aquatic Park. The trails, bbq area, pond and public swimming pool make it an inviting place to spend a fall afternoon.


A true mark of the Fall season is Johnny Appleseed Days, a 135 year tradition on The Ridge. This two day celebration features apple pie, local merchants, a kids zone and is a celebration of the community.
